de corpos presentes

A Galician platform for contemporary performing arts

De corpos presentes is a platform for the production, research and dissemination of contemporary performing arts in Galicia; a field with a very fertile and active artistic community — both in terms of creativity and generating knowledge about our present, as well as its capacity to mediate and energise on a social level — but with an institutional context that is not yet welcoming nor conducive to making the most of all its potential.

De corpos presentes seeks to activate connections between a series of artists with creative processes underway in our territory and several museums and cultural spaces sensitive to contemporary creation that, in turn, attract a set of audiences. The platform defines these connections through curatorial and mediation work, generating a programme for each case. It also seeks to establish collaborations and exchanges with other geographies.

De corpos presentes alludes to the bodies of today and how they are together in the present, inhabited in actuality and potentiality. The name alludes, on the one hand, to the very subject of the performing arts: the body as poetic material. Its expression in the plural (“corpos” means bodies) refers to the notion of community and/or multitude, around which many contemporary creations revolve. On the other hand, it refers to the dialogue that these bodies establish with the present and its multiple forms: our subjective perceptions of time. A dialogue that bodies generate by being present and active in a shared space and time — the dialogue and the intelligence of their performativity.
